SEERY,
Winifred C. (Sullivan) Winifred C.(Sullivan)
Seery, 75, wife of Daniel J. Seery, died on Friday
(January 29, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. She was
born in Erie, PA, the daughter of Francis J. and
Sarah (Davis) Sullivan. Winifred graduated with
honors from East Stroudsburg College and received
her masters degree from Penn State University.
She taught at the University of Hartford for several
years. Winnie greatly enjoyed writing and shared
this love through teaching, writing, and publishing.
She was working on a full-length comedy mystery
novel. She was a member of the Mystery Writers
of Americ a and Sisters in Crime.
A lifelong lover
of dogs, she was never without a biscuit in her
pocket during her neighborhood walks. Winnie enjoyed
the beauty and simple pleasures of creation, travel,
food and friendships, and was always mindful of
the needs of others.
Besides her husband, Winnie
is survived by her children, Daniel Seery of Manchester,
Thomas Seery and his wife, Michelle, of Willington,
and Eileen Keegan and her husband, Scott, of Glastonbury;
by her grandchildren, Valerie Seery, Jonathan and
Ryan Seery, and Paige and Dillon Keegan; by her
brother, Francis Sullivan, and his wife, Joan Gallagher,
of Elkins Park, PA; and by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
on Saturday, Feb. 6,
at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Storrs with burial to follow
in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Family
and friends may call at the John F. Tierney
Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester,
on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers,
please honor her memory with a donation to
any Haiti relief fund or a charity of your
choice.
