« Parish News & Events »‘For the Love Of a Child’The Diocese of Norwich The Diocese of Norwich has been supporting needy children in Haiti for the past 25 years. Outreach to Haiti currently supports two orphanages, sponsors over 300 student tuitions, facilitates medical outreach and nutrition programs, and operates a primary care clinic in Port-au-Prince. Because of Outreach's presence, many Haitian children have access to an education, a warm meal to eat, and are able to receive the medical care they deserve. Join us in support of needy children in Haiti at The Diocese of Norwich Outreach to Haiti's 2012 annual For the Love of a Child gala, Saturday, April 21, at The Clinton Country Club, Clinton CT. Tickets are $150 each, $75 of which is tax deductible. We welcome parishioners from throughout the diocese to take part in celebrating, honoring, and supporting the most vulnerable of our Haitian sisters and brothers. For more information please contact Anna DeBiasi at 860.848.2237 (x206) or anna@outreachtohaiti.org.
Thoughts for SharingThe Covenant Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry are in desperate need of cereal, tuna, one can meals such as ravioli and beef stew and salad dressing. Also clean reusable containers and plastic grocery bags would also be greatly appreciated. Please leave donations in the collection containers in the Aquinas Center next to the kitchen door. Many thanks for your commitment to this ministry. Faith Sharing GroupThe Faith Sharing group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 in the Library. We are currently using the material from "Breaking Open the Word" which is a reflection on the scriptures. This process is modeled after small Christian communities of Central and Latin America where ordinary people gather to share their insights on the message of Jesus in the Gospels. In addition we are reading and discussing two books, Falling Upward by Richard Rohr and In Search Of Belief by Joan Chittister. Our meetings are open to all and very welcoming. It is a wonderful opportunity to share our faith and to deepen our relationship with God and with each other.
