St. Thomas Aquinas
Liturgy Committee Notes
September 10, 2009

Members Present: Fr. Gregory Mullaney, Mike McHugh, Joan Doiron, Ione Jackman, Pat Dubos, Ted Hill, Dick McKee, Mary Bruno, Marilyn Pinto, MaryAnne Brennan
Guest: Lee Keating

After an opening prayer, Fr. Gregory handed out copies of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM), noting that it is only a part of the whole Roman Missal.    Committee members are to read preamble and Chapter 1 for the October meeting.

Fr. Gregory is working on a uniform procedural document for LTL’s to use as a guide.

Faith Formation will be coordinating various aspects of the Children’s Liturgies with the Liturgy Committee.

There was a short discussion of

  1. altar vessels. Are more ciboria needed to supply both buildings?
  2. chalice needs to be sent out for refinishing.
  3. setting of chairs in Center when a greater number of seats is needed
  4. possible need for new projector and/or bulbs (warranty?)

The question was raised as to who will coordinate the recruiting and training of student lectors, etc for the 7/9 PM Masses.  This was one of Annemarie O’Connor’s tasks in past years.  Perhaps TLC and/or FOCUS?  Fr. Gregory said he would check with the FOCUS ministers about this.

Lector’s workbooks for 2010 (Cycle C) are in.

Preparation for Advent:

  1. Past practices were briefly mentioned
  2. Questions about possible shared services with St. Mary’s in Coventry
  3. Lessons and Carols with St. Mark’s (They have a new organist this year.)
  4. Possible need for new wreath in Chapel.
  5. Bring Advent thoughts and ideas to October meeting.

Next meeting: October 15, 2009, 5:30 PM Basement Music Room
