Collecting
new and "gently used" hats, gloves, mittens and socks for the people in the "No Freeze Shelter".

Recognizing our covenant and a need to help our neighbors during this cold time of year, St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel and St. Mark’s are joining together to collect items for the  Windham Area No Freeze Hospitality Center. There is information posted in the Chapel and the Center. The Hospitality Center needs hats, gloves, scarves, socks, paper towels, toilet paper, razors, shaving cream, decaf coffee, cleaning supplies and volunteers. Bins will set out to collect items. Please consider making a donation to help a neighbor in need.  If you would like more information, please call 860-450-1436.

This is what happened when the St. Mark's parishioner who's heading up the drive brought the first collection to the No Freeze Shelter.

Normally, I guess the people are not there on the day I was there but, with these cold temperatures the doors were open to those who needed to come in out of the cold. I wish you could have seen the faces as I emptied the bags of clothing! People came over to the table and ask if they could have the gloves, hats, etc. One lady's eyes grew wide and said, "oooh, socks! May I have a pair"? They were so excited and appreciative.

Emergency Contact Number
Should someone be in need of an emergency anointing, please call 860-336-9179. If the emergency is at the hospital/emergency room, please have the hospital call us at this same number.

Room Reservations
At times this can be a busy place. We have a procedure for reserving space for regular meetings or special events that helps us avoid conflicts whenever possible and allows our limited staff to arrange tables, chairs and equipment as needed. To reserve a space in the Aquinas Center, you need to file a request form with Lisa Wild-Cornell two weeks in advance of your need. Lisa makes sure the space is available and set-up can be done as you wish. We also check the overall parish calendar to avoid conflicts. These forms are available in the Parish Office. To be fair to all parties, we have to adhere to this policy. A phone call to Lisa can tell you if the room you want is free, but no reservations can be made until the completed form is filed. Thanks for your help in making life easier for everyone! Fr. Gregory
