K-8 Programs
Students in grades K - 6 attend classes every Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 or 6:30 to 7:30. They use the series, Christ Jesus, the Way, published by Benziger. Students are required to bring their book to class each week and to complete their homework assignments.
Seventh and eighth graders use the junior high program published
by Resources for Christian Living. They focus on the topics
of liturgy, morality, creed and prayer. These students
meet on Sunday evenings from 5:15 to 6:45, for eight weeks
in the fall and eight weeks in the winter.
Students at all levels participate in leading monthly liturgies, seasonal penance services and other special activities. First Penance and First Communion take place in grade three and above with classes for those sacraments taking place on Sunday mornings from 8:15 to 10:00.

Parent Resources
The Library in the Center houses a wealth of videos, books and materials that are available on loan to families. These materials can be checked out on Tuesdays and Sundays during Religious Education classes or by appointment with the Religious Education Director. Parents are also encouraged to visit the web sites of the publishers of our programs. See www.FaithFirst.com and www.benziger.glencoe.com for activities and information related to your child's program.
Special Events
Throughout the year, St. Thomas sponsors a variety of special events that connect the religious education experience to the larger parish community. Some, such as the Halloween party, are presented with the assistance of University students. Others, such as the Blessing of the Animals, are a collaborative faith opportunity - in this case, with St. Mark's Episcopal Church. All are designed to broaden the religious education and faith experience of our young people.
